The DuPage County Recorder’s Office in Wheaton, Illinois, has formally announced the passing of former long-serving Recorder Fred Bucholz.

Bucholz was a foundational fixture in DuPage County regional government, dedicating more than 30 years of public service to the Recorder’s Office. He notably served 15 of those years as the county’s elected Recorder of Deeds before announcing his retirement from the role in late 2020.

Contributions to Public Service
Throughout his multi-decade tenure in office, Bucholz was recognized across the state for bridging local government with modern technological standards:

Electronic Standardization: Bucholz served as the past Chairman of the Illinois Electronic Recording Commission. In this leadership role, he spearheaded the creation and implementation of state guidelines that allowed all Illinois counties to establish unified standards for accepting the digital and electronic submission of property documents.

Community Presence: Beyond his administrative duties at the Jack T. Knuepfer Administration Building in Wheaton, he was heavily involved in regional civic organizations, including the West Chicago Lions Club and the Elmhurst Elks, and served on the Louis Invitational Golf Committee to raise funds for local causes.
