Life and Legacy
Background: Born on February 14, 2002, in South Africa, Werner grew up in Richards Bay and Pretoria. He was a proud rugby player who represented his town and country with passion.
Global Journey: In recent years, Werner traveled overseas to work, spending three years in Utah before moving to Nebraska. He found great joy in agricultural work, particularly cutting hay in a swather and driving trucks.
Personal Passions: He was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love for nature and fishing. His family recalls his unique ability to spot wildlife from great distances and his infectious laughter that “lit up a room.”
A New Chapter: At the time of his passing, Werner was looking forward to the greatest joy of his life—becoming a father for the first time this coming fall.

Services are being handled by Wherry Mortuary in Pawnee City, Nebraska.
Visitation: Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Pawnee City.
Funeral Service: Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Chris Rohrbaugh.

Final Resting Place
Following the services in Nebraska, Werner will be flown back to South Africa to be buried near his family. He is survived by his parents, Sean and Alida Koekemoer, his three siblings, and his grandmothers.
The family has requested that memorials be designated for future use, and many friends have already begun planting memorial trees in his honor to reflect his lifelong love for the environment.
