    A Decorated Athletic Legacy
    Amanda was a key figure during one of the most successful eras of Maryland women’s lacrosse. Her contributions to the program were significant:

    National Champion: She was a vital member of the 2010 NCAA National Championship team.

    Team Leader: During her time at Maryland (2007–2010), she served as a team captain and was known for her “passion and determination,” which head coach Cathy Reese noted were driving forces behind the team’s success.

    High School Standout: Before her college career, she was a star at Chesapeake High School in Pasadena, where she was named the Capital Gazette Athlete of the Year.

    Cause of Death
    While the University’s official statement focused on honoring her memory and support for her family, reports from Southern Maryland indicate that Amanda was involved in a fatal motor vehicle collision.

    The accident occurred on Tuesday, April 14, at approximately 12:35 p.m. in the area of Three Notch Road and Murphy Court in Mechanicsville, Maryland. The collision reportedly involved a commercial vehicle. Emergency medical services responded to the scene, but she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

    Community Tributes
    The Maryland Women’s Lacrosse program released a heartfelt statement following the news:

    “Sending our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Amanda Spinnenweber Regan… We’ll carry her with us and play in her honor the rest of the season.”

    Friends, former teammates, and the Pasadena community have remembered her as a fierce competitor on the field and a kind, dedicated person off it. She is survived by her husband, her parents, and her four siblings.
