In the case involving Armando Javier Negrete, authorities in Portland, Maine, have made a significant arrest following a violent incident earlier this week.
The Incident and Arrest
On Monday, May 4, 2026, Portland Police responded to a report of a stabbing at Shalom House, a mental health and housing services facility located on Woodford Street.
The Attack: A male suspect allegedly stabbed a female employee inside the building before fleeing to the exterior property.
The Arrest: Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 9:58 a.m. and located the suspect, identified as Armando Javier Negrete, 40, just minutes later. Negrete, a resident of Shalom House, was taken into custody without incident at 10:04 a.m.
Charges: Initially detained following the attack, Negrete has been officially charged with Murder and is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail.

The victim has been identified as Marlene McNeill, 40, of Gorham, Maine. She was a dedicated employee at Shalom House.
The Loss: Marlene was rushed to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but was tragically pronounced deceased shortly after.
