The incident centered around the intersection of South Main Street and Fair Road, specifically near the Azul restaurant, where a massive crowd had gathered for the holiday festivities.

The Shooting & Injuries
Gunfire: At approximately 9:00 p.m., Statesboro Police and Bulloch County EMS were dispatched to Azul following reports of gunfire.

Victims: Initial reports confirm that two people were shot.

Related Accident: Amid the chaos of the gunfire and the large crowd, a third person was struck by a vehicle in the same area.

Hospitalization: All three victims were transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center. As of this morning, May 6, authorities have not released details regarding their conditions or identities.

Secondary Incident
A short time after the violence at Azul, another accident with injuries was reported nearby at El Jalapeño, another Mexican restaurant on South Main Street. It is currently unclear if this incident was directly related to the panic from the first shooting or simply due to the high volume of holiday traffic and pedestrians.

Current Investigation
Statesboro Police Department (SPD): Detectives processed the scene throughout the night. No arrests have been announced as of midday Wednesday.
